Maxxis vs marathon

I will be replacing my tires (312qbud) in the next couple of weeks. The tires are 225 75 15 lrd. I will be upgrading to lre. The maxxis seem to have the better user reviews vs the marathons. What do you guys think? Also are carlyise (SP) worth considering?

Maxxis or Salune seem to be your best options. The only good thing GoodYear has going for them is that GY will pay for damages when their tires fail. Notice I said when and not IF!

Asking about tires is akin to asking about the best quarterback or pitcher or barbecue or
brand of truck etc.....
EVERYONE has an opinion.

My opinion is you'll do better if your tires (ANY brand) are not running near their max
load rating. You don't mention the actual gross weight of your rig. Do you know it??
Have you been to the truck scales with your trailer loaded ready to camp??

Choose a tire type that will give you as much extra load carrying capacity as you can
get. Don't forget if you upgrade your tires that means higher inflation pressure and your
wheels have a maximum inflation as well as the tires.
Do your homework and get as much safety factor as you can and you will
tip the odds much more in your favor as far as tire failure one day down the road.

I have maxxis on my toy hauler and love them. My father in law had marathons on his camper for 10 years they were great for him. Really don't think you can wrong with either.

IMO trailer tires with high usage as Original Equipment tires are never going to have better reviews than tires not used as OE tires but heavily used as replacements for OE tires.

Marathon, Carlisle, Towmax, Mission and Uniroyal have all been highly used as OE Tires. Maxxis has not.

Don't get me wrong there, Maxxis is just as good as the others but is often used a load range above the OE tires they replaced. That makes their reviews a little lopsided.

Maxxis does not have the highly regarded nylon overlay on all of their 8008 sizes whereas Marathon, Carlisle and Towmax do have the nylon overlay on all of their premium tires.

Maxxis or Marathons were the 2 tires that I came down to when choosing new tires a couple of years ago. The Maxxis edged out the Marathons reviews-wise and I was very happy with my choice.

For ST tires, Maxxis.

Not sure I have every seen a post for a Maxxis blowout or quality issue.

I don't think you could go wrong with either of the brands you mentioned, they would all be way better than the OE tires that come on these RV's. I chose the Maxxis 8008 "E", like for like they are a heavier tire. I googled each for specs, that's how I made my choice.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up ordering the maxxis m8008 load range E.
