My compliments to Discount Tire Direct
Came home today from a work trip and started setting up for vacation tomorrow. As I was hooking the boat to the Ford and checking it's tires I turned on my TPMS to check the camper tires. As soon as it synced it went nuts. Looked at it and my left rear had 28 psi in it. Drat.
I pulled it off and found I had picked up a nail at some point on our trip back from Texas last week. I plugged it to use as a spare and reinstalled the spare in its place and carried on with my setup.
After a bit I figured I might look to see if I had bought the $15 insurance when I'd ordered the tires last September. Sure enough I had for once in my life purchased the insurance. So I called them to see if they could do anything.
Really nice tech on the phone said that normally they require the tire to be inspected at a qualified shop to see if it could be repaired prior to replacing. But to make it easy since I'd already plugged it he'd just ship out a new tire for the$15 cost of the new warranty.
Just got the tracking number.
I've bought a lot of tires from DTD in the past and I've never been disappointed. Very happy with their response as they could have denied it since I plugged it myself. (And I wouldn't have argued as, well, I didn't follow the rules.)
Only thing is they didn't have the E rated Maxxis in stock so the replacement is a Goodyear Endurance. I'll be interested to see what it looks like.
