My spare is flat

I never thought to check the spare prior to road trips. I started the process of installing my BAL hide a spare today.

When I took the spare off the bumper I noticed it was totally flat.

Glad I was doing this now. Checking the spare will be a general part of checking my other tires upon departure.

Have fun.

Thanks for the reminder.... I dewinterized yesterday, fired up all the appliances, checked the tires and got everything ready for the season but forgot to check the spare.

I check the spare before every trip, as I check and air up the other tires on the trailer and TV.

I also check my spare by tapping it with a hammer before each trip. I have been meaning to order another sensor for my TST monitoring system for the spare but keep forgetting it.

I have CAA (Canadian version of AAA) for RV's, just in case.
Also, just in case I carry a 12 volt tire pump and a liquid tire inflator/sealer.

I rap mine with my knuckles each time I walk past it, much like a trucker hitting his tires with a hammer. A dull thud is not a good sound.

When I get a flat.....it's usually only on one side and the rest of the tire is ok.

Now that it's done, I'm happy. But I literally took 9 hours yesterday mulling over just how to install it on my trailer. There was only 1 spot it could go, and I had to do a little modification to make it fit.

That story is here if you are interested.

Thanks for asking.

Thanks Ron ! I have one spot to put mine in and only one. It did have the Propane line running down the center of the frame, but I moved that line to about 2" from the frame edge, so now it's all clear in the center.

Same with us, although I use tire plugs instead of sealer. I always try to remember to check spare tires for vehicle and trailer before a long trip.
