New Electric Jack

My Grey Wolf came with a RAM tongue jack on it. In short....It was a big, slow POS to begin with. It's slipped off its blocking a couple times, and I've noticed that it's bent a couple degrees. Along with the aforementioned slowness, I've decided I will get a new jack this spring.

My dilemma comes in here.

I can get a new in the box LCI (what seems to be a standard on new units today) 3500 lb jack off craigslist for $75.00, or I can spend $205 on a Husky Brute.

Pros/Cons?

Here's the LCI

I bought my TT two years ago and it came equipped with the Lippert model you show or it's close cousin. The jack worked fine but was a bit loud and made somewhat like grinding noises when used to raise the TT tongue. Oddly enough I had bought a second hand Husky jack which looks so similar to the one you referenced. I had the Husky on my 18' cargo trailer and really liked it. One day I decided to swap out the two and did so. The Husky worked so much better on the TT than the Lippert and the Lippert worked on the cargo trailer without as much noise. I do understand that the cargo trailer doesn't weigh near as much as the TT. So, IF I were to throw you a recommendation it would be for the Husky brand.

JustB,make up a Hollow Box that has different dimensions for under the jack foot, you will encounter a need for cribbage anyway, and the footprint of the box gives support on soft ground and Hot Blacktop! Jack movment is Reduced from 8 to 12" by using the Hollow Box,and it is not Heavy! Use any Jack you want but I use "Barker"! Youroo!!
