As for 6 year old tires... Last set of Carlisles on the fiver came apart at 5 years and 5 months. One blew and the other three were beginning to separate. Made a mess of the wheel well. That's two times on the 5 year mark for me. The first set showed cracking and tread separation upon inspection, so luckily I changed them early. Guess what my replacement time is now???
As for Michelin, as previously stated, I also have used them for at least 40 years, on and off. Always liked them, and had them on the Ram from day two. Third set, 37,000 miles, four years and the rear driver side separated at 75 MPH on the way to our Utah hangout. Took out the entire side of the bed because the belt just refused to let go. Just glad I wasn't pulling the fiver or it may have been all over for us. Then again, I never go over 65 with the trailer on back.
When we got to the tire shop, the tech told me he has seen ALOT of Michelins separate lately, just like this one did. I switched to Hankook on his recommendation. They have performed extremely well on my Jeep (third set), but it is a much lighter vehicle. We'll see how they perform over the long haul with the heavier loading.
