New unit

The new 5er I'm looking at has Westlake tires on it with an "L" load rating. I heard the NTSB has recalled most of them for sidewall failure. Anyone have opinions. Being a newbie not sure what the "L" rating is. I can always ask the dealer to put different tires on it.

I just bought "G" rated tires that had a "L" rating which is the speed rating for the tires. Just ask seri about "L" rated tires.

The only recall for Westlake tires was for certain tires made between 2004 and 2006.

Earlier this year I took some pictures of tires mounted on RV trailers at a large RV showing. I just happened to get this one of a Westlake tire. Two things drew my attention to this particular tire fitting. The green valve cap indicates the tire was serviced with 100% nitrogen. The yellow and red dots on the tire sidewall are placed there when the tire is built to indicate the best balance position when mounted. The yellow dot is supposed to be lined-up with the valve stem as pictures. Whoever married this tire & rim combination together was well trained.

p.s. L speed rating is 75 MPH.
