I have the Husky - Brute Power Jacks Model HB3000, with a 3,000 lb. capacity, 2-1/2″ dia. (#87248)
I thought it was the 4500lb one but I just looked. I lift the truck high enough to slide the 12K Equalizer bars easily on my F250 with a 900lb golf cart in the bed of the truck. Jack works well but on an un-level site, I had it jacked up with a 24" tongue height to get it level, the jack lifted the trailer but the foot shaft sure did wiggle. That is when I bought the jack stands listed in my earlier post.
Has anyone had a Husky fall or fail? Thinking of buying the 4500lb one this winter just to be safe for $206.84 off amazon, what do you guys think?

While at the dealer yesterday picking up a few small items, I had a talk with the parts guy about the Lippert jacks. He commented the over ride plug cover being in top is a huge design flaw as water can leak through that and cause damage to the motor and/or other components. As for the jack failing and the front of the trailer falling, they have heard of it but not seen any from units they have sold. All the failures have been the motor quit working. So I have taken a few pieces of black vinyl tape and covered the plug in hopes of helpin keep water out.
His final words were don't take that plug/cover off unless you have to.

I put a plastic bucket over the top of my jack to keep water off it. It's not pretty but works

I bought one of these vinyl jack covers. Looks nicer than a bucket and it works well for the price.

I think I'm gonna get one of those. Is it only for when the trailer is parked, or can it be used while traveling?

I keep my cover on all the time except when hitching and un-hitching. It has a draw string on it to keep it tight over the jack head.
This is a $10 "universal cover". The bottom of my Husky jack sticks out a bit but the head is covered. Not the best or custom but works well, so in a couple years I will get a new one.

even my 2010 airstream had the same jack, the problem is the plastic gear, if you do not wait until gear stops moving before reversing the jack direction, the gear strips.

Every time this thread shows up I get a gut punch reaction. IF this ever happened to us I'd take it straight to the dealer's to see if there's frame/structural damage, keeping all my fingers and toes cross while they inspected it.

In all honesty, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Ours came straight from the factory into our possession. Not been rained in much, and I' e been the only one using it. It's covered out of the weather. I'll keep a couple of jack stands handy, and enjoy my new trailer.
