Question about brakes

I have a 2013 Rockwood. 2608ws. It has the center grease inserts I have greased the bearings prior to leaving for summer trips. Every time the brakes make grinding noise don't know if grease got in on brake pads collecting dirt causing the noise. My question is I would like the brakes checked out but do not want to take a week or more to have it done by a dealer. Where else could I take it to have the brakes checked and replaced? Thanks for any help.

Any "Reputable Service Garage" Make sure they Jack in the Proper location's or they will Do Damage! Do a Search at the Top of page for Proper Jack points! I personally use Ramps for this type of work! Youroo!!

If grease were getting on your drums, you would have just the opposite effect. Most likely what you are hearing is probably rust that has developed inside the drums being scraped away.

Question about brakes

Besides that your magnet actually "drags" on the inside face of the drum.

When you apply the brake the magnetic sticks to the face and the rotation of the drum pulls your magnet to apply the brakes.

Electric Brake noise

TURBS...et al...if I may tag along with this inquiry, your response may answer my question before I post it ! ...I have never had a trailer with electric brakes but do so now with our 2015 Crusader 295. I was servicing the bearings thru the Dexter hubs and also heard this grinding noise when rotating the wheels to spread the grease. It is consistent with all 4 wheels....am I to expect this to be a normal sound of the magnet dragging on the drum? Thanks to all replies !

Question about brakes

Most likely yes the magnet is dragging.
And it should.

It's "possible" that there is some surface rust either where the magnet rides and or the shoe surface making it "sound" worse.

Thumbs up Electric Brake noise

Thanks for your encouraging reply....I wasn't too concerned since the noise was consistent with all 4 wheels...I'm going to pull one of the drums anyway before the next trip just to check and learn ! The Crusader was 1 year old when we bought it this past winter so we don't know how well it has been maintained. Thanks again for your help.
