Question on brakes

We have a 2011 Rockwood Signature Ultra lite 34 ft tow behind. Problem with rear brakes. Left side works fine, ample power going to left side. Right side, magnets hum but wont lock up wheel. Have taken apart right side, lubed and replaced magnets and adjusted brakes. Still no brakes. Replaced wire completely from left side to right side, still no brakes. Amperage on right side same as left side. Cleaned ground on front of trailer, still no brakes. Any ideas???

Maybe they need to be adjusted.

When you replaced the wiring did the ground wire run back to the junction box or was it terminated near each wheel on the frame? If it was terminated near each wheel, I'd check all the grounds and clean them well. Also, what gauge wire is ran through from the left side to the right side?

Is the right side the heavy side?
How did the hubs look when you replaced the magnets? Were they shiny on the rubbing surface? If they were shiny, you may want to pull them and have them turned so that they have a roughened surface and then burnish the magnet against them properly.

I think I'd remake the connections.

Left side is heavy side which is on drivers side and that's where the brakes lock up good not so on right side when replacing magnets on right side yes inside drum shiny with slight groves from old magnet all connections have been checked and rechecked

Did you look at the brake shoes to see if they were glazed? If they were, the magnet and lever mechanism will work fine but there will no (or very little) braking power.

Controller?? I didn't see mention of that. Some of the old ones may not be compatible with 2 axles. Prolly not it, but it might warrant a check

Did they ever work? If you took an Amp draw to each side, then I say the magnets are working correctly. I would look at the actuators and verify the shoes are getting spread. The activated magnet drags on the drum, the hum you hear, causing a lever effect as the drum turns to a fulcrum that spreads the brake shoes.

If they did not ever seem to work, then I would verify that you do not have some left side parts mixed in on the right side. Rotation will be backwards and brakes will not activate. Test this, rotate the affected side backwards and see if you get braking.
