Rockwood trailer tires?? Brand and size?

That load capacity increase is at least one load range above the previous requirements - minimum - the trailer manufactures were using for OEM tires.

Airdale, when did RVIA change their recommendation on tire load range? 5picker’s Flagstaff 5er is probably close in weight to my new Rockwood (both have bed slides). The factory installed LR D Castle Rocks on his 2016 and they put LR E Castle Rocks on my 2019.

ST225/75R15 LRE tires would pass the 10% load capacity reserves for your trailer.

The RVIA recommendation is a little over 2 yeas old. IMO all 2018 and later models should have the upgraded load capacities. It's really going to depend on the date of vehicle certification.

Thanks for the info. I’ll be making a stop at a CAT scale on our second outing with the new trailer to confirm weights are within spec for both the truck and the trailer.

Investigating a little further, the four LR E tires provide a capacity of 11,320# at 80 psi. The axles are rated at 5,000# each. So in my case the Castle Rock tires are not the weakest link.

frank4711, what are your Rockwood's GVWR, axle ratings and tire load ratings?

Thanks I do not have the camper yet hoping for end of March ... Forest River says UVW is 9402 and CCC is 2054 ... do not know what tires will be on the camper should be E rated?? thanks

Yes, you’ll need Load Range E tires. If it didn’t come from the factory with them, I’d replace them immediately, but it probably will have the same Castle Rock LR E tires they put on mine which was built on 04/04/2018.

According to the specs for that trailer it will come with vehicle certified 5000# axles. The OEM tires will most likely be ST225/75R15 LRE with 2860# of load capacity ea. at 80 PSI.
