Not by the book, but I use automatic transmission fluid (ATF) for situations like this. Grease collects dirt, ATF stays pretty clean. ATF evaporates over time so I relube about once a year.

I use Dri-Slide. Doesn't collect grit and stays put pretty well. It's black so be careful of overspray.

Scissors Jacks
I notice I keep getting surface rust on my Scissors Jacks.
I have been using WD 40 but my gut tells me that's not the soloution.
Should I sand an spray with Rustolium before I think of Lube??

No... I was just agreeing with the above posting! Got mine from the RV dealer but I'm sure you can get it from most any automotive parts store!

No. The "X2" is used here on the forum to mean "times 2" or "I agree with that statement".
For the scissor jacks, I use a dry graphite spray lubricant like this
Graphite Extreme lubricant | Jig-A-Loo
I use it a couple times a year but if you use your RV more frequently you could use the lube more frequently.

Since they are down behind the wheel they are going to get blasted by dirt and water all the time.No lube is going to help that.I just leave them bare. When they get rusty and dont work right I'll just replace them. For $25 each its about the LEAST of the items that need attention on the trailer.

Any dry graphite spray lube will work. Protect-All also makes a dry lube for slideouts that will work just as well.

I use a dry lube that is designed for bicycle chains, no complaints on that. You can get it in the bike section of any sporting goods store and usually at places like Walmart as well in the bike section

No,I m not kidding.I do squirt the mud off them with the hose, but I'm not going to lay down on the dirt and spray them with lube. Do you clean the mud and dirt off your springs and lube the leaves?I tak really good care of my things too,but at some point some things are disposable (IMO) and the flimsy stab jacks are one of them. After one year, the half applied powder coat is peeling off and they are rusting anyway.
