self adjusting brakes

had one wheel hot and three normal, for the second time found the brakes adjusted too tight on this hub, so being a long way from home I just removed spring from self adjuster and temp solved this problem. anyone else had a problem with there lippert self adjusters??

Mine would not even adjust. Had to have the mechanic do it.

Yeah, I had just said in another post about hitting a gator and it setting off my brakes and one of the self adjusters came apart. I did away with that kind of braking and one of the techs at Lippert told me that the none self adjusting ones are better. I got my replacement brakes from Texas Trailer Parts I think it was called but Etrailer has them also. they have a little bigger/thicker magnet and that is why he said they are better.

I had the same problem on a 18 month old Cherokee we bought new.

After removing the wheel and backing off the brakes twice, I discovered that the cable that activates mine was twisted and thus slightly shorter (and I guess more aggressive on the adjustment). I untwisted it and haven't had any more problems.
