Shocks

I know this has probably been addressed before, but I haven't seen anything about it, so I thought I would ask. Has anyone ever considered or tried shock absorbers on a TT? If so, what were the benefits if any. Seems to me they would eliminate a lot of the bounce. Thanks for any info.

I also put shocks on our trailer. The bounce that the trailer had is gone and it rides smoother. I raised the trailer 3" for the clearance we need to get into some of the areas we go in the boonies as well as to be able to get on and off some of the inland ferries the we go on as well as a place to weld the upper shock mounts on.

I installed shocks on our 2013 Columbus 5th wheel. Rides better and helps with reducing chucking. I did it after reading OC's suggestions. Glad I did it.

Thanks 09grizzly1 & Paul M
Did it require any welding or is there a bolt on kit available? If so, where.
Thanks again for the info; I appreciate it.

Looking online & found a bolt on kit from Lippert. Has anyone tried this & if so how did it work. A little leery of how the top bracket mounts. Doesn't use bolts, but self tapping screws like the ones used on sway control trailer tongue bracket.
Thanks again for any info.

Lippert makes a kit. I did have to weld on a short piece to extend the shock to clear the square tube that operates the slide. Not a big deal unless you don't have a welder, but nothing a local shop could not handle. The self tapping screws are more like bolts. You need to drill a pilot hole. I use some thread cutting oil and an impact gun. Worked well.
