Should I get a Prodigy 3?

I am waiting for delivery of a new Roo 19 having moved up from a popup. I did not have trailer brakes on the popup but will need them on the Roo of course. The price from the dealer included a brake controller installed in the TV for $125. For that money I assume I am getting a time delay unit.

The question is should I have the dealer take that out of the price and install a Prodigy myself? It will cost $20 more. It seems like the progressive units are better and the Prodigy is the unit everyone has. Or am I making too big a deal about this and just go with what the dealer installs?

Definitely get a proportional and not a time delay brake controller. The p3 is available on eBay pretty cheap and if your truck is wired for brake controller it is an easy install . Just get a brand specific wiring harness for it. Ours installed in minutes in our old armada.

you can get a P2 for under $100 and it's as good as the P3, just less bells and whistles.
easy to install.

I bought a p3 and I had no idea I had a problem with one of my brakes until i got it. Now that all is fixed it is super smooth braking and works great highly recommended.
