Should I go ahead and balance?

I have a new Roo 223IKSS that weights in at a max weight of 6500# with the new from the factory tires. Should I go ahead and spend the $60 to balance the tires? Is it still worth it for this size trailer and the factory tires? When replace these with better tires I surely bill balance. I want to avoid any blowouts that would damage the trailer but, I am not sure that balancing will help this.

Thanks

I'm surprised they didn't come balanced. But yes, anything larger than a bicycle tire should be balanced.

If you remove them from the trailer, Sam's Wholesale will balance for $16. They seem to have the latest equipment and loose wheels get balanced quickly. This gives you a chance to check other suspension components.

YES!! 2 things can happen when you balance. 1, it will save your factory tires and a blowout, trailer damage etc. & 2 if you have the steel spoke style that my 1st trailer had it will identify which wheel is out of alignment. All 5 of my wheels were un-true. I put the 4 best on the ground and 5th went on the bumper. Didn't find the issue until a year later when I bought new tires.

Yes!

As a minimum advantage, a whole lot less vibration going on in your rig while driving. Less stuff to tighten......

I have never seen them come from the factory or dealer balanced but, to answer your question, get them balanced!!!

lots of discussion on this forum about air VS Nitrogen filled

air is already 78% Nitrogen

question - are your TV tires balanced?
if so why?

for the same reason that your TV tires are balanced your TT should also be balanced.
Tire wear, vibration, tire bounce are the biggest concerns.
But it makes sense that if the TV is so should your trailer.

we just replaced 4 tires on our 5th wheel to Maxxis M8008's and had them high speed balanced.
Installed with high pressure stems and balanced was 85$ at VIP auto in Bangor Me taxes included.

Even bicycle wheels should be balanced (trued). Went down steep mountain road IN Vermont years ago with bicycle wheels not trued. At high speeds going down mountain bike shook so badly it was hard to stay on it an control it. Scary!

Absolutely! You have too much riding on that rubber to fudge a few bucks on a balance. Not balancing will give you flat spots and unusual wear. A good balance will be both for spin and side-to-side balancing. It will also tell you if your tire/rim is beyond balancing (defective).

Along with balance, tire pressure and regular inspections are extremely important. For instance, I was checking our 16' tandem axle cargo trailer before taking a long road trip. Noticing something unusual on the hidden side of one tire, I found that the tread was separating. Had it not been replaced, it would have failed in the first hundred miles.

Trailer tires take a heck of a beating, from tandems scrubbing and torquing on a turn, to weight shift and sway, to catching road debris, to just being poor quality. In the past 10 years of towing 4,500+ mi/yr, we have replaced 6 tires by necessity-four times on the road. In all instances, they were balanced brand name tires. We have come to carry 2 spares.

X2, X2....

I had all my tires balanced with the TST TPMS sensors on before going to Alaska and back. Over 11k miles with the original "Chinese" bombs. Not a single problem. Checked all tire pressures before starting and monitored them daily with the TPMS. Didn't have to add or takeout any air during the entire four month trip. Tire pressure fluctuated +/- due to temperature, altitude, etc. But within what I would consider an acceptable range.
