That's what I said-it's almost as if the trailer twisted but we never hit anything or got hit, we were on a level pad and normal paved roads. This is driving me nuts trying to figure out why and how

Golden gate is great, and only about 10 miles from my house. If you decide to move it, be slow and careful. There is no gaurantee that axles that have moved, won't move again.

just for clarification. Are the axles sitting on springs, or do they appear to be solid, but offset when they get to the drums

If all goes well we will be there two weeks from yesterday -sigh. Thanks for all your help. Wish there was someone on SE aurora who did this kind of work. All the dealerships and parts are in Lakewood and Golden

Solid and offset by the drums-we cannot see springs, leaf springs or anything else-do you want a picture of the belly of the beast?

It sounds like you have torsion spring axles. This would be the case if you don't see springs. My guess would be torsion failure. I think there was an issue with some of these and they were replaced by factory.

From your pictures, it doesn't look like you have springs, but a torsion axle. Whole different ball game.

Is that more expensive than spring?

You have torsion axles, not springs. I would take these pictures to the dealer and get replacement axles and hire someone to come to your house and replace them.
You need to get the axle rating off the center of the axle. If the trailer is still under warranty. Let the dealer deal with it.

I'm not sure if the torsions can be repacked or not, but I would say that it should be more expensive than replacing just springs.

It looks like it was a recall issue with the 2011 surveyors per Sam's Club and our friend's posting above. I would sure rather have someone come here instead of driving it this way! Thanks everyone. I will let you know the outcome

Read the tag on the axle and see what the rating is 4000#, 5000#?. The dealer will no doubt have to order 2 new axles. If you don't have the equipment or know how, definitely get someone that has the equipment and know how to do the job at your house. I would not move the trailer very far in that condition for fear of blowing a tire or damaging the skirt/fender well.

Sounds like AL-KO torsion axles, which I don't have. Maybe someone with them will chime in.

guitar-man, make sure that your axles haven't slipped and rotated, which allows the tire to rise into the wheel well. It has happened to countless campers, and most don't even know it.
That bolt/nut that we see in your pictures is supposed to clamp the axles in place, but doesn't have nearly enough clamping force to do the job.
Check at the front of the axle mounts, where they rest us against the camper frame. If there is any gap there, they have slipped.
Let us know what you find. If you are not sure what I mean, could you take a picture from the front of the axle mount, rather than the side shots you have provided?
