Springs

I noticed when my truck is un-hitched from trailer my overload springs are flat against the other springs. I thought they had space between them some time ago. Is this normal?

It would probably help to know which truck you have.

It's normal for some models to have the overload springs conformed to the main springs and it's not normal for others.

Give us the model and some members with the same model can look at theirs and let you know what they find.

How much weight do you add before you notice they go tight against other springs?

The only variable is I added a 40 gallon aluminum tank that weights -100#'s
I noticed this even when it is empty.

That picture is with the 250# 5th wheel hitch in the bed.

I'm not sure how much it takes to get them to sit on the pad, but I've put 400# on the back plus the hitch and they don't touch. I do know that hitching up the 5er makes them touch. But it has a pin weight of about 1800 lbs.

Since your talking about it being un-hitched, I would think that means your springs are getting weak.
