Super Lube bearing system
Recent re-grease of factory bearings. We have about 2000 miles on our 5th wheel since last year purchase. On a recent camping trip I noticed in the mirror what I thought was smoke coming from the left rear wheel. Whew.... what it actually turned out to be was recent rain, black top, temperature and sun. So, after returning decided to check bearings. I did some reading on the subject also and decided to give the Lippert super lube system a try. On our old travel trailer it had the ez lube dexter axles and they worked fine for 10+ years. So, using my step board system to get one tire off the ground and a 12 ton jack for stability I dug into this bearing re-greasing. Decided to take the tire off as to get easier access to the zerk fitting. Plus, gave me a look at the wheels and cleaned them up also. Guess, I shouldn't of been surprised that the aluminum wheels are also made in china. Anyway, I spent 2+ hours on each axle, slowly pumping, turning and also listened for brake shoe drag. Seemed to work well, each axle took almost a whole tube and I am happy with the process. All old black grease is out and I used a very expensive but long lasting grease surpassing anything on the market. So,, I thought I would share and hopefully I have no problems on our soon to be next camping trip.
