Tire pressure, day to day change

so, about 2 weeks ago during the dealers pdi, I asked them what pressure they recommended in the tires. The tech's reply was "....65 psi,....for a softer ride". I then pointed out the manufacturers sticker which said 80,.....he said,...okay, we'll put 80 in them".
Okay, this week, we're getting ready for our first trip and I check the tires..76..psi. Okay..so I drag out the air hose, and put all four tires and the spare at 80 psi. That was on Tuesday....3 days ago. As I hitched to the truck last evening, I decide to "just check tire pressure"....76psi. I thought that was weird since its been sooo hot here of late. We hit 100 F yesterday actual temp with nighttime lows in the 80's. Anyway,... Out comes the air hose....and as of yesterday evening they were back on 80. I'm trying to rationalize an entire set of tires leaking down 4psi consistently. temperature related ?

Cheap tires can be subject to an increased osmosis rate compared to higher quality tires. That's just one of many things that could be going on.

How true on air pressure & temps in the tires. Last winter I topped off all my tires (TV & FW) at 80psi when it was just above zero. I got to Arizona with 80 degree temps and now my tires are at 90+psi. What a change.

The Patriots would probably suggest that your change in tire pressure is normal. Roger Goodell would probably disagree and suggest that Tom Brady let some air out! However, I suggest you tighten the valves in your tire stems.

Tire pressure change all the time depending on temps altitude or sun/no sun. yes going from a zero to 80 degrees will give you a higher tire pressure. But the tire companies take this into there manufacturing. That's why the pressure for over inflating is around 25 to 30 psi above the listed pressure. same with the tire temps. a over heated tire can also raise temp so the manufactures place a over heat temp into the tires usually around 175 degrees. people take way to much thought into the temps and pressures on these tires. The number of tire fails are miner to the number of tires on the road. You only ever here from people that have had a problem so take a breath and relax just check you pressures before take off and have fun.

One leaking valve stem cost me $2,500! The inner rear ones were those long rubber hoses wrapped in wire mesh. After just three months on a brand new Georgetown, one began to leak. That tire blew and took the adjacent tire with it. We were on the interstate so had to get roadside service to bring two new tires. Five days later the same thing costing me two more tires. The first roadside service left the old valve stems on when they replaced the tires! Ouch $$$!

Keep in mind that the typical tire pressure gauge may not be giving you consistent readings either. The round dial type contain bourdon tubes which are more accurate (consistent, repeatable measurements) than the cheaper stick type gauges. USAF doesn't allow stick type gauges to be used on their aircraft........
