Tire PSI

Truck door stickers states 35psi.
Tires are rated up to 44psi.
Will increasing the psi help with trailer sway/stability of ride?
Thank You

It will help some, but the P tires will still squirm and wear faster. You need LT LR D or E tires.

Yes and no, you can run the max tire psi. But that is recommended for max tire load. It will help, but not as much as a higher load rating tire at a higher psi. If you get the soft, floating, not secure feeling I would up the psi.

Got more specs on what you are carrying for a load?

I will get the D+ at next tire change, just curious about any improvements w/higher psi. I understand my ride will get a little firmer....

I run LR E on my truck and when not towing, just let the air down to 35# front and 30# rear and it rides just about as well as on the P tires.

What psi would you run the D's or E's at when towing?

Hello,

Had a F 150 Screw Ecoboost Max Tow. Towing a pin weight 1800 lbs

1. I ran the P series tires at 44 psi, was better and less squirmy, not perfect
2. I did put E's on and ran them at 65 psi on the stock rim with rubber valve stems. Worked Great!

Brian

I prefer Michelin tires. Have never had a failure in 30 years of use! The F 150 had 20 inch wheels which limited my choices in sizes in E.

I went to E rated tires earlier this year. I ran the P rated tires at 50psi when towing and it helped. The couple of times I've towed with the new ones I ran them at 55psi. It made a huge difference in stability. I run them at 35psi when not towing and i think the truck rides better than it did with the P rated tires.
