Tires

I know there are many opinion on tires but I need input. This is the first time we need new tires. We have GY G614 Rst LT 235/85 R16 14 ply that came on our new 2015 fifth wheel. The RV service wants to replace with same grade but Carlisle Tires. Anyone have opinion on Carlisle tires? Thank you in advance for your thoughts

Tires

Check the load range and carrying capacity of the Carlisles. A G614 is pretty high up there with what it can carry.

Personally, the only 2 tires I would consider are that tire (GY G614) or the Sailun S637.

Not that I know of bad with the Carlisle. Just that I know of only good with these 2.

i would double and triple check what the dealer is saying. the goodyear g614 tires are normally put on 'heavy' trailers. you don't mention what type of trailer you have or it's weight. I looked at Carlisle tires and could not find any of their tires that have the same construction (14 ply) and load capacity as the g614's you have. of course, I may have missed them. so it looks like you would be downgrading in load capacity. get the specifics on the tires you have, what they dealer proposes, and the weight of your trailer. again, I may be missing something.

Thank you both. The fifth wheel is a 41’ fifth Cedar Creek CK 38. I believe 16,000 GVW. And there is Carlisle tires 14 Ply.

You asked for opinions.

Replace them with exactly what was on there. Don't get the Carlisles.

Personally I would suck it up and swap to 17.5 inch tire and wheel package. Doing that opens up a lot more chpicez with higher load ratings.

Just about all of the ST tire manufacturer's are into the 16" high load capacity tires. Carlisle has a brand name for their new ones. Here's the WWW page.

to airdale: thank you for the info on the Carlisle tires. are they new? I have looked through their catalog and still can't find these tires. but the specs seem to be similar to the goodyear 6624 and sailum s637. just wonder what the price for these would be and what type of reviews they have been getting. thanks again.

With that size fifth wheel I would move up the Goodyear’s 17.5. You must travel a lot, I have a Cedar Creek 2015 and I have the Goodyear’s G614 and my tires are nowhere worn out. I guess you having the heavy camper is the difference.

If you should decide to stay with the G614 you will probably only need three tires as you have a spare tire. My spare has never been on the ground

Like the GY Endurance, those Carlisle LRG tires are new. Discount tire, Discount Tire Direct and Walmart may have them in stock or can order them direct. Check with those retailers near you.
