Torque specs for trailer wheels?

Any ideas where I would find torque specs for trailer wheel lug nuts? New trailer with good old Chinese Castle Rock tires. 225-75-15. I've looked through the literature they gave me but can't find anything. Thanks!

Torque specs are determined by Dia.of wheel lug! Some wheel MFG have odd Torque specs between "Steel & Alum"wheels also? E Trailer has spec sheets for most Lug/Wheels! Youroo!!

On my trailer there is a small white sticker just above the wheel well stating torque required for the wheels, might try looking there.

Edit: I stand corrected, sticker is at the front passanger side of the trailer, 100 ft/lbs in star pattern.

Our new 2608SB came with a big sticker on the front saying the wheels had been torqued to 100 lbs.

When wheels were balanced, the mechanic thought this was a bit low and torqued them to 110 lbs. I checked after about 60 miles, got a little movement, and re-tourqued them to 110. I'll check again after our next trip.

BTW .... here's a surprising thing .... When balancing the wheels, it was discovered none of brake housings had the rubber plugs installed in the brake adjustment holes. Not a good thing!!!!

Might be worth a check to see yet another thing the factory 'forgot' to do!

Cheers,
John

If you have a copy of the trailer's owner's manual, the information you seek will be in the tire section.

Does anyone know what the size if the nuts are? I have a 204rd and can not locate anything. Both the 19mm and the 3/4 size fits the lugs. I want to have the right one if something goes wrong!

19MM equals .748 inch, both will work fine. There is likely more tolerance in the manufactured lug nut itself.

Either socket will work because 3/4" and 19mm are actually the same size.

Still waiting for someone to reply that it really doesn't matter as long as you are towing it with a 1 Ton Diesel...

I always torque the lug nuts on the RV to 105# before every trip along with an air pressure check. We are half way through a 6000 mile trip, travel about 350 miles a day when traveling staying several days here and there. Our trailer has aluminum wheels, I use a 3/4" six point deep well socket with a 2" extension and a 24" click stop torque wrench. Never fails that one or two lug nuts will move ever so slightly but I do feel the movement. It's rare if I see another camper checking the torque of there lug nuts. I wouldn't feel safe not checking before a days travel. Am I paranoid? Do most have this issue with aluminum wheels?
