One advantage of the Dexter axle is the POTENTIAL for the axle itself to be higher than the spindle...wheel center. With leaf springs, axle clearance improvement can be as important as chassis clearance. Based on an "eyeball" assessment, I think my axle is a bit higher than it might be if it were a leaf spring suspension. Then again, with the misadjustment, MY particular axle might be in harm's way.
