Hmmm. I'm blind as a mole, but that's the ONE monitor I CAN see while driving! I put it in a ProClip adjustable mount, on my console..........the one made for my Galaxy Phone, and I tilt it....and I do have to tilt it on occasion. But that works.

Yes, I can see (pardon the pun) where if it was stationary it might fade in and out depending on sunlight.

There appears to be two light settings depending on the amount of ambient light. Most of the time it is easy to read but occasionally it will dime for a few seconds. On my Forester I am just using the dash mount and have it located on the left near the pillar.

I wonder if there is a software update to keep it from dimming?

Just to check my understanding, easy to read even in bright sunlight while towing? I'm interpreting you to say there's a difference between it and the old one, but not a significant difference. Would that be correct?

I can see some logic in that. On the other hand, if I knew it was a fast leak alert, I'd probably look for a good place to pull off immediately. If it was a slow leak alert, I'd probably be a bit more discriminating about where I found to pull off. And, if it was a low sensor battery alert, I'd probably not pull off until I got to a place where I could get a replacement battery. But I wouldn't want to take my eyes off the road for a minute or two squinting to read the low contrast orange on black text or seeing through the glare. So I'd have to assume the worst and pull off immediately. At least that's what I'm thinking now. If you see a flaw in that logic, let me know.

Interesting. I can see the vehicle outlines and the tires just fine, but the dark blue text on black is difficult at times, and the orange on black is really almost impossible in bright daylight. I don't suppose we have an opthamologist who's an RVer lurking who might explain this?

Your comment caused me to look online at the ProClip mounts. I could not tell, however, if they tilted multidirectionally like my old Garmin GPS, or if they only tilted up and down. Tilting in all directions might be a big help.

FYI, I emailed ProClips and they aren't making a mount for the 507. However, they have highly expensive universal mounts. But Ram makes a lot of universal mounts. They are actually better on the mount side, but have to attach either permanently OR via suction cup........their drawback.

I just found that the phone is easier to "lay anywhere" than the TST monitor.

And it DOES have a dimming feature. Duh! I can't figure out what triggers it though.

They do make an anti glare screen for computer monitors that can help with your problem. You would have to cut it to size.

There are two light settings. The sensor on the lower right causes it to dim as the light decreases. It's easy to see if you put your thumb over the sensor as it will dim immediately. Of course you can put a piece of electrical tape over the sensor and keep it dim which is naturally the opposite effect of what you want for seeing it during the day. Basically that means that in broad daylight it is as bright as it's going to get.

I've talked with a couple of people at TST. They've been friendly. They've heard from others about the problem and have asked their development team to address it in the next version, whenever that may be. But they couldn't provide any real fix.

The best place I've found to set mine in the Sequoia is exactly where you have yours. I set it in the rubber holder and I could turn it left or right, which made some small difference (until the road turned, of course). On the phone with them I found it made a bit more difference tilting it up or down (which you can't really do with the rubber holder) but I was inside. Outside I couldn't tell much difference. I tried the suction holder, but it didn't seem adjustable enough to matter much.

My brother-in-law just got one and he told me he sees his fine. Some posters have said the same. It appears TST might be right when they say it varies by individual vehicle. I suppose the angle of the window glass and how it captures the sun reflections on the display unit could make quite a difference. It's just I don't want to have to trade TVs to find one that works well. <

Hi,

I found that mounting my TST color monitor up by the mirror, using the suction mount, eliminated the minor sun washout i got at certain angles.

Fwiw.

I can see it but it is harder to read in sunlight than the tire minder is (different brand of tpms). I have no idea about earlier tst systems but I think my old monitor has a better screen. It is black and white.
