That's the way mine works and that's OK because at least you know from the "0" reading that something is amiss.
If it just keeps flashing the last valid reading when missing data, (because of out of range or dead battery or wheel in never-never land) it isn't doing much good.

Mine shows 0 psi and beeps until I press the silence button..

LOVE the unit, and after seeing about 4 RVs damaged severely by a blowout during this summer's trip, really glad we purchased one. Peace of mind knowing what the tires are doing! That said, I have also found it retained the last readings for a while when we drove away from the RV and agree it is just keeping the last reading instead of blinking, which it should do.

Mine came with the repeater/booster which I installed in the nose on our Windjammer, I've never lost a signal and I keep my monitor down in the open area of the console.

X2 As an ET and N7MIP, I agree. That would be the best RF propagation known to man.

Received the following from TST. This sort of confirms the unit will not tell me there was loss of signal but confirms the "normal" alerts will alert me immediately.......
I apologize no one got back to you on your previous emails.
When you just drive away and do not dis-engage your trailer on the monitor by pressing and holding the Mode and Minus, the unit will echo the last valid signal it had, it confuses the monitor as it did not have a low pressure warning, rapid air loss warning, or temp spike, the signal just vanished. If you are hooked together and getting readings and you have a low tire or problem the system will alert right away.
If you would like to call me we can discuss this in more detail. I am available 7 days a week until midnight.
Thanks,
Mike Benson
