Valve Stem Supports

I installed end-cap TPMS sensors on my 16 inch wheels which have rubber valve stems (stock). The TPMS company recommends adding metal supports to the rubber valve stems, so I bought "Wheel Masters" supports for 16 inch wheels. However, these are designed for steel wheels, and my FR Sierra 377FLIK has aluminum wheels in which the rim has a different shape. So the supports don't fit. Other than installing steel valve stems on the aluminum wheels (which is also a problem based on blogs), has anyone bend the supports to fit the aluminum wheels?

This may not be the problem, if you use a tr-428 stem.

I'm heading out the door or would look previous posts up for you. You can do an advanced search on my user name and tr-428...and find several posts explaining these clamp in stems.

When I get back, I'll do it if you haven't already,

What blog? Don't buy into someone's lack of knowledge. I run nothing but bolt down metal stems and I have aluminum wheels on my truck too.

2 years ago after have a flat on the freeway die to a failed rubber stem, I switched everything to metal stems.

Never seena commercial truck (tractor trailer) with rubber stems...ever. and most modern big trucks have aluminum wheels.

The blog is phooey.

I installed tr-428 metal stems on the aluminum wheels on our TT. No issues and TMPS fit fine.

Kevin, if you cannot find an answer to your question about the supports, then you may want to look into the TR-428 valve stems that several members are using just fine with the TPMS sensors and aluminum wheels.

Here are some previous threads on it, and it may could be an answer to your current problem:
