SO seeing as how we are starting summer 3 with the V-Lite I figured it was time to replace the DURO brand tires as we have not had any issues as of yet and do not want any. So after checking around and discovering Kal Tire no longer carries Maxxis tires in the size I need (ST225/75R15 LRD), actually they said they are discontinued. The next best thing seems to be Goodyear, so off I went and priced out 4 $936.00 installed and balanced. I then looked at Carlisle LRD's $775.00 installed and balanced in Regina and $725.06 for the Carlisle tires in Moose Jaw.
WHat to do What to Do. Anyone have anything bad to say about the newer Carlisle tires? Seems to be a far better deal than the Goodyear ones. Also not sure about Kal Tire but the Goodyear dealer won't even take my DURO's for free. He had a brand new unit that came from Ontario last summer and it blew both tires on one side and tore up the unit pretty bad so he is kind of jaded toward the DURO's. Not sure about KalTire though.

I've had good luck with Carlisle tires as well as several other brands.

I put Carlisles on my Trailmanor in 2007, and the present owners are still running them as far as I know. Trailmanors were notorious for blown tires, as tires on the single axle are close to the maximum weights.

I believe the Goodyears are made in China, so may as well stick with the Duros! Not sure about Carlise.
Too bad about the Maxxis, I guess I got mine just in time!
Herk, how old are your Marathons?
They used to be made in both the US and Canada, but all I have seen lately are Chinese.
Oh, and your statement that " ALL Maxxis are made in China " is simply incorrect. Mine aren't, and I just bought them last summer.
I was at Flamans in Saskatoon the other day and they had Goodyear Marathons in that size mounted on white spoke rims for $176 each. Don't really need new rims but that isn't far off the quotes I was getting for just the tires not including mounting. There should be a Flaman store closer to you.

Are you trying to (Trade) your old tires in? Tire dealers here (USA) charge disposal fee, hidden or stated. My Maxxis are (NOT) China made. New snowmobile trailer came with China made Goodyears. Youroo!!

Closest Flamans is the Saskatoon one, I had to go there to get my 660 gal water tank. No biggie really as we run up there evey once in a while to Lee Valley etc. Guess I will give them a call today or tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

We pay a $5.00 per tire enviro fee (disposal fee) and it is not hidden as it is law. I just asked if they would take them on trade as I usually do that with my truck tires if I haven't totally bagged them. Generally get abt 30 or 40 bux a tire if they are in good shape.

As ti tire codes not really required when it states right on the side "made in China" as my Marathons on my flat deck do. Made in China does not bother me at all as they will make anything you want to any price point you want and well you get what you pay for. My Goodyears seem pretty good but then so do my DURO's. I am just trying to prevent an issue seening how we are driving over 4000 miles this summer.

Pull that V-lite to the US, price the Good Year Marathons, that is what I put on my 2011 Fifth Wheel, Just a little over $100.00 each. Load range D.
The DW and I were discussing that last night that we should maybe get them on our way to Indiana this summer for the ralley. Tire rack shows the LRD Marathons for $115.00 ea.

The date code on the tire is 2510 as you can see in the photo.
That is the 25th week of 2010. The "MD" means Gadsden, Alabama and they still make them there. Not ALL Goodyear Marathons are made in Gadsden so you have to ask for them. Mine had to be shipped from the warehouse by request.
I would love to know the tire code off you tire since there are only tire codes for China under Maxxis. (I think I asked you for a photo of your code last year and you never posted it that I recall.)
FYI The Maxxis Tire code is "20" and they are a Thailand company (MAXXIS INTERNATIONAL (THAILAND) CO., LTD.). They make their tires in TASIT SUB-DISTRICT, PLUAK DIST (city), in RAYONG (Province), RED CHINA.

John,
As I stated on numerous occasions "NOT ALL MARATHONS ARE MADE IN CHINA" Some are made in Gadsden Alabama. I also do not care WHERE they are made; but WHO did the quality assurance on them.
If Goodyear (or Michelin, or whoever) has their name on them THEY, as well as the DoT, did the QC on the plant. Some goofy name tire was most likely only spot checked by the DOT.
