What do your Trailer Brakes Sound Like?

Do your trailer brakes make noise when in use? The brakes on our Puma sound are noisy in a sense that they sound like two surfaces rubbing together. They don't necessarily grind, or sound like metal on metal. The braking power is fine it just sounds odd.

I just ordered a temperature sensor so I can see if each wheel is heating up consistently The brakes are electric drum brakes on Dexter EZ Lube axles.

So how do your trailer brakes sound? If my brakes should not make this noise, can I take the trailer back to my stealer and have it serviced under my soon to expire warranty?

Your magnet when brakes are activated drags on drum face to engage brakes.
Perfectly normal.

They will make some noise, they operate differently than vehicle brakes.
I always hand activate the TT brakes with the controller and pull against the brakes with the truck b4 hitting the road.
Sometimes the brakes will squeal or squeak for a short time.
The metal oxidizes (rusts) between uses. I wear that off b4 I get on the road.

Probably just some surface rust on the drums and it will clean off after driving a little. Electric brakes make a humming noise when applied and sometimes a clicking when disengaging, depends on the trailer and condition of the brakes.

Mine are as quiet as a church mouse, don't here a thing.

Of course, I drive and old school IDI and the trailer brakes are around 30 feet behind me.....

Yep, I don't hear mine either. But on the first trip after it sat all winter it will squeal a little until the surface rust is gone.
