Where Can I Find Alignment Specs

I recently purchased a new Salem Cruise Lite 282QBXL. I noticed today that the front and rear axles seem to be offset by maybe 1/4 - 1/2 inch with the front axle biased towards the passenger side and the rear towards the driver. I also checked the distance between the center of the hubs on each side and found a 1/4 inch discrepancy (shorter measurement on the passenger side).

Should I be concerned about these?

Just thinking out loud. Were these measurements taken while it is sitting in it's parking place after being backed in? I would think the most accurate measurements would be taken after towing forward in a straight line.

It was backed-in. I'm assuming that makes a difference?

Depends if you were turning while backing, scrubbing causes the axles, wheels and tires to get out of alignment during turns.

You need to pull forward two complete tire rotations in order to set the axles in travel mode. Then take your measurements. You won't find the specs anywhere, too many different frame variables involved.

Alignment

If I were you, I would return the unit to the dealer and INSIST that they have it realigned before you use it. Out of alignment will cause excessive tire wear, blowouts and nothing but grief. I know! After 2 years and many tire problems, I finally took mine to a shop that specializes in the work and found the axles to be the cause of many of my problems.

Until he drives it in a straight line for 30’ or so he doesn’t know if there is a problem, like the first person said.

If possible anytime you back in, pull straight forward for a short distance then straight back. Tandem axles may not be aligned if they the unit was stopped immediately after being turned.

I think that information has been repeated sufficiently.
