Where to wire repeater for TST TMPS on trailer?

Just got the new TST 507 today. They now come with the repeater. Not sure I'll need it as trailer is 30 footer, but directions just say to wire to any 12 volt source. Electrical and me aren't fast friends. I pulled some videos but they primarily dealt with motorhomes and larger fifth wheels that had enclosed battery banks. The batteries on my trailer are outside the coach in boxes on the tongue. What would be the best location to wire in the repeater given I can't go directly to the batteries? Thanks.

I mounted my repeater for the Tireminder tpms under where the aframe meets the main frame. I wired it into the junction box under there. Worked well on our 30ft tt.

Tst tpms

Just hook the repeater to the battery in the front of the trailer. Once connected to the battery leave it in the battery box, and close it up.

Thanks, and feel free to call me anytime at 210-420-0132

Best,

Mike Benson

Question for you.

With the repeater wired "hot" on the battery, how much power will it drain in between uses? I was thinking of putting a switch on the outside to turn it off when not in use.

Thanks

My batteries are still in storage but I keep my repeater inside the battery box. I put a little toggle switch on battery box with light and just flick it on when I connect and off when I disconnect trailer. Click image for larger version

I mounted the repeater on the post for the propane tanks where it is protected under the tank cover. I then ran the electrical connection down to the battery box where I use 2 alligator clips to connect/disconnect.

If I add a repeater I will wire it to the running lights as I always run them for the camera anyway

I mounted the repeater on my V-nose just above the battery box. Wired in with on and off switch attached to the battery box. Later RJD

Hi Sir,

It is a very Low Milli Amp Draw.

It should not affect your battery too much.

Feel free to contact me with any questions at 210-420-0132

I mounted my repeater on top of my propane tank cover. I run the wire with a 4 wire flat trailer plug behind the tank cover to the battery. The opposite end is attached to the battery terminals with alligator clamps. Makes it easy to connect and disconnect the 12v power to the repeater.

Mike ... I got my TST last summer and it did not come with a repeater. Are you shipping this out to those that didn't have it included?

I wired mine in to the downside of my battery disconnect. The repeater is mounted to the tongue jack post with wire ties. My logic is that if the light on the repeater is on, my batteries are live. Gives me a quick check when I leave the trailer in storage - don't have power there.

I put mine inside and tied it to the USB/12v plug next to the bed.

TST

Hi Sir,

We just started including the repeater with kits, and the price of the kits increased now that they are included.

I will make an exception for you, and send you one at no charge. You will need to contact TST at 770-889-9102 ask for Stephanie, I will ask you to pay for the shipping $6.95

Thanks,

Mike Benson

I have had my 507 for so long I can’t remember when I brought it. I have always mounted my monitor as high on the windshield as I could place it and didn’t feel like I needed the repeater. My old monitor use to drop a sensor occasionally but the new color monitor doesn’t ever drop a sensor. The monochrome monitor keeps the tires on the screen all the time, just not the temperature and pressure on each tire when the monitor is away from the camper. I like the new color monitor one reason because it drops the tires when the monitor is away from the camper. It’s nice to look at the monitor and just see the truck tires. For new people that buy the new color monitor the psi being on the right will never be a problem for them, I’m slowly getting use to the psi and temperature being on opposite sides
