The porter cable c1010 mentioned above is on sale for $99 with free shipping and no tax on Amazon today. Just ordered one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00519...670_pe_vfe_dt1

GasP - thanks for the information - I haven't ordered one yet but I will probably buy it from Amazon as Lowes or HP only seem to have them at certain times.

As stated before, I like to touch and feel things before I buy them, but I have heard good things about Amazon and they do have a return policy.

Before I get any flack, TEMPORARILY REPAIRED. Lol. I am a stickler if i get a leak, hole, cut, puncture or if the tire looks funny to me that day it is replaced.

I currently use a 12V DC compressor that does the job but is painfully slow and occasionally blows the 15amp fuse for the DC plug in the back of my truck. Its fine for topping off when we are on the road or camping, but I want something bigger and AC for home.

I freely admit a woeful lack of knowledge when it comes to these compressors.

I am looking at:

Porter-Cable’s C1010 heavy-duty one-gallon 135 PSI max quiet trim compressor. Cost is $99. This is a one gallon tank that yields air at 0.75 SCFM at 90 PSI with a max PSI of 135.

My SUV tires are LT-Cs so they go up to 55lbs or so and the trailer tires are the typical trailer tires.

So my questions are:

Will the smaller compressor with the one gallon tank do fine? Is there any reason for me to look at a 2, 3 or 6-gallon tank pancake compressor?

I'd rather not buy another one in two years so any better options or recommendations?

Thanks!
Triguy - I realize this thread is getting old, but as I stated here before, I was looking at various portable air compressors for my FW and finally decided on the Porter Cable C1010.

We recently made a round trip of approx 2900 miles and I had to top off one tire that was reading approx 75 lbs cold and I need to have 80 lbs cold. So I got the compressor out, plugged into the RV 110VAC outlet while we were hooked up to shore power and topped the tire off with no problems.

Granted it took a bit longer to air it up with the Porter Cable that it would have using my 25 gallon compressor I have at home, but it did the job.

The compressor and its hose fits nicely into a compartment on the aft right side of the RV and I received no complains of noise from anyone.

I brought it from Amazon for $99 which included free shipping.

The only complaints I have is that it doesn't come with a hose or required quick disconnects and that I had to put tape on all the fittings due to small air leakage.

Other than that - I like it and would certainly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a small light air compressor.

Glad to hear its working for you. Useful to have and that model is a nice size for your 5ers storage.
