I feel for you but Im guessing that unless the axle has more than a 3 year warranty you are out of luck as far as getting anyone else to take responsibility.

as others have said, etrailer.com has them for about 50 bucks for a complete backing plate, shipping included. I would just order what I needed and move on.

Your situation is just another glaring example of why I do my own maintenance. I KNOW it is correct when Im finished!

I do my own maintenance too. Not everyone has the skill or ability though. Those people are at the mercy of their service provider.

Camping world should have caught this and did their customer a disservice by not doing so.

Agreed. Id take it to a tire shop if I did not have the expertise. That is their area of expertise and Id trust them far more than CW.

How Problem is getting resolved. Mostly.

Hi All,

Some interesting comments. So, thanks. They are Dexter brakes. K23-478(9). $111.09 each at etrailer.com. $150 on Dexter web site. CW needed 5-days to get one. CW didn’t happen.
Contacted the dealer we bought from. Dealer in Iowa and we’re in AZ.
(not going to take it in to Dealer) Dealer contacted Forest River. A Forest River rep called and said: Document the problem, AND between them and Dexter, They will pay for the repair. (it was documented in the paperwork from CW).
I say Mostly resolved because I think it prudent to replace the brake assembly on the other side of the axle so they are matched.
I don’t think FR will pay for this. Oh well, this is life. Just happy some of the repair will get reimbursed.
On a side note, Reviewing the all the paperwork that came with the Flagstaff, there was a booklet on Lippert Brakes.

I trusted a tire shop to do my bearings. Big mistake. They adjusted the bearings too tight and one burned up during a trip. Luckily I caught it in time to avoid an accident. Tire shops know car and truck tires, brakes, suspension but I will never trust one to work on my trailer again.

Hi Bob, thanks for the follow up and glad to hear FR is stepping up to help!
FWIW my opinion only- if the brakes on the other side of the axle are not
excessively worn as you say they are not due to low mileage- I'd just
adjust them and leave them.
I'm a penny pincher fer sure but if they're not worn out they will work
fine and basically the same as the new one once it wears in.
IF it makes you sleep better then change them of course.
