I just ordered a set of Maxxis M8008 ST225/75R15 "D" Load Rated tires from Discount Tires. My existing China Trail Express are "C" rated and I keep them inflated at 50 PSI max and never drive over 65 MPH. Now that I'm going with "D" load rated, I would like to have some opinions on tire pressure.

How many out there weight their TT and go by the Tire Manufactures Tire Load/Inflation charts or just inflate their tires to the maximum PSI rating (which in my case would be 65 PSI when I get my new "D" rated tires)?
Just looking for what people are doing that has worked for them.

Here's what Maxxis chart shows for ST225/75R15 Tires
50 PSI for 2150 LBS
55 PSI for 2270 LBS
60 PSI for 2380 LBS
65 PSI for 2540 LBS

I have the D load 225-75-R15 Akuret.

I run D's and religiously keep them at 65psi and never run faster than 65 mph.

Well I'm going to stir the pot and I run E rated @70psi and can go 70+ with no problem. My GVW is just under 12K. The plus is down hill to keep momentum up the next.

My 2300 calls for 75 front 65 rear FULLY LOADED. Weighed rig, way under. Michelin RV tire chart calls for 55 F & 60 R. Phoned Michelin, talked to a tire specialist and confirmed pressures. Being anal I am running at 60 F & 65 R. Steering feels less squirrely than when it was 15 PSI overinflated. Maybe more rubber on the road? If your rig is running at max capacity then going with the max may be OK. It's only $11 to weigh your rig so why not. Maxxis knows their tires better than we do...

Check the wheels for max pressure. You may have run the "D" rated tires at 60 psi.

X 2 Ford Idaho "E" load 225-75-R15 Akuret Always 80 psi. TSTM 507

I agree with the folks going with the 65 PSI on the D's I have used D's on my trailers since 1984 and ran 65 PSI with no problems. Trailer will tow easier and run cooler.

As stated above D rated tires are 65 PSI and not to exceed 65 MPH.

I run 65 PSI, cold. Of course as you drive the pressure increases, but this is built into the tires.

Make sure your rims can handle 65.

I called Lionhead they claim their Sumec Rims are good going from"C" (50 PSI) to "D" (65 PSI) load rated tires just change the value stems to steel. I'm going to trust them????

I would trust them and use steel valve stems.

Where are you guys getting the 50 & 65 psi figures from....My "D" rated tires say 80psi on the side wall........I thought under inflation can be "BAD"!!!!!!

My ST D tires say 65# on the sidewall. E tires on truck say 80#

just get e rated 10 ply and don't look back , you won't worry about not having enough tire . 80,psi

My Maxxis D tires arrive at shop tomorrow. I also called Lions Head and they said the Sumec Rims could handle D range at 65 psi. I bought some 1 1/4 " steel bolt on valve stems from Oreilly Auto Parts rated for 150 psi. I will put my TPMS sensors on and have tires balanced with sensors in place. I plan to run them 65 psi/ 65 mph max.

I heard so many people question the rims when going from "C" to "D" load rated tires. The most common is "make sure they are rated for 65 PSI". IMO again this is just MY OPINION. My rims shouldn't be effected going from 50 to 65 PSI, but since the valve stems are the weakest link they need changed to steel bolt on stems. Also lets say when they take my "C" load rated tires off the rims and they happen to be marked 2150 max load weight, I'm not going to change the weight of my TT so the rims are good. I'm going with "D" load rated tires for the extra safety margin. By the way my Maxxis tires are in and this weekend I'm going to have them installed (weather permitting). I avoid pulling my TT down my road when it's muddy.

Wondering if when upgrading to a higher load rated tire (C to D) if most people also upgrade their spare tire? For me the spare will be used to get me somewhere to have the tire repaired or replaced then the spare goes back on it's holding bracket. I think of it like the temporary fix doughnut spare tire that cars have, that all of us have grown to HATE.
