Smile 2008 Cardinal 30TS

Hello all Cardinal owners and lovers.

DW and I are debating if the Cardinal model 30TS 2008 would be a good unit for fulltiming.

I mean fulltiming. 24/7 year round.

Is it build well enough for that. Is it insulated well enough, floor, walls, ceilling?

Can the appliances, fridge, stove, microwave sustain the fulltiming rv life?

Is anyone out there fulltiming with a Cardinal fifth wheel, if so I would appreciate your comments and thoughts on the matter.

Thanks in advance.

The Cardinal is a very well built unit. To get more information go to the cardinal club web site: www.cardinalrvclub.org the folks there will be more than happy to help you. I have an 08 35rlt and love it,

I think alot depends on where you are planning on full timing it. If in the hot south you will probably need 2 air conditioners and thermopane windows would help alot whether heating or air conditioing

Hello Dezolen,

Fulltiming will be done in Florida, Arizona and Texas.

Thermopane windows is a must and the idea of having a second A/C probably a must to.

Thanks for the input.

ram,

We own a Cardinal 32TS (travel trailer version of the 30TS). Identical floor plan as yours in a TT version. We don't full time, but after two years of dragging this thing around Texas, I wouldn't hesitate to move into it for the long term. We have the dual air option, and it is needed in the hot summers here. Our record setting heat wave this summer made me appreciate it all the more--with all the slides out this thing is cavernous and hard to get good cooling in the bedroom area with just the main unit.

As far as build quality for the long term--again, I say this as a weekender and vacationer--we haven't experienced any issues that would lead me to believe it couldn't handle full timing. It's sturdy and the metal sealed underbelly resists rodent infestations. Keep up with inspections of the sealant foam where various pipes and tubes run into and out of the corrugated metal and you should stay animal free.

The heated tanks, while not needed here very much, do have a side benefit--turning them on will warm the floor slightly in conjunction with the furnace to take that cold feeling off your toes.

As far as appliances, they are the same OEM suppliers as many other RV's. They should hold up well as any.

Good luck in your travels!

Joe

I am jealous of all the full timers. Perhaps in 3 or so years. Can't believe we would give up our comfy home but there is something about living in these mobile homes.

We have the 30TS and travel 4-5 months a year in it. We've also full timed, but not in this unit. The only thing we would like in our rig is a bit larger toilet area, and more comfortable couch, beside that it would be great to full time in
