2011 Cardinal 3425RT Hot Water Leak

Just wanted to give a heads up and share a problem we had last weekend with our 2011 Cardinal's water heater. This was our 7th outing with the fiver and woke up in the middle of the night to water being sprayed on the underside of the floor by the bedroom door. Shut the water off and discovered that the outlet side of the hot water heater was spraying hot water right off the back of the tank. Turns out there is a plastic straight fitting that screws into the tank and then the coach's water line connects to it. They had only put a small amount of thread tape on it from the factory and it had given way letting the water spray out as if the fitting wasn't tight. The fitting was tight. I removed the fitting and tried to put a generous wrap of thread tape and it still leaked. Ended up using pipe dope on it to get it to quit leaking. Looks like the machine work of the plastic fitting is the culprit. It has a slight flattening in the threads like the shape of a stop sign. There are bound to be others with this same problem based on what I see with mine. Just a heads up to check it out, ours must have been seeping since we picked it up new. And of course this was at 3 a.m. not the best time to have a problem.

I moved this over in the Cardinal section, as Cardinal is a different factory than others, and first post on this problem that I remember.

Sorry for your misfortune, glad you got it resolved, and thanks for the heads up.
