Yes, you can hook up to any outside faucet however, you do need a pressure reducer/regulator. Available at any RV place & most Wal~Marts $8 to $10. Hooking up to city water works well - a good way to get air out of the lines. When filling the hot water heater hold the pop off valve open to let the air escape. When water starts running out release pop off valve.
