Bump outs

Any good idea for covering roof so noise from rain doesn't keep us up all night. Do not want it to pond water

Nope. Camp where there is no rain I guess. We do tend to run our A/C or just the A/C fan at night for white noise. Cant hear much rain over that unless its raining really hard.

then you are out the $ for the topper and you get to hear the rain off the topper and then the topper flapping in the breeze. no thanks. How about a chunk of foam board insulation to dampen the sound?

We never had any problems with our 12'+ topper, the entire 10 years we owned the trailer.
Well worth the money because it solved the problems we had without one.

The OP's thread title is "Bump outs" so most of us thought he meant 'roofs of slides'.

Mr. Dan, I missed that point.. I think you are right. I have toppers on one of my main bump outs but not my bedroom and the other main bump outs as they cathedral ceiling.

Sounds like expression someone from Britain may use??

Bump outs is an old timey name for slideouts.
My wife's grandpa called them that.
I believe it came from the early versions of slideouts when you manually had to push them out.

If you are having issues with rain noise try the tan "Mack's" earplugs...I use them every time in our hybrid because I'm such a light sleeper

Then if this is the case your toppers were not installed properly. Some manufactures place the topper rail too low which makes it difficult for the topper to do its job. I've pointed this out to manufactures reps at shows more than once, some get it and others don't give a damn. Mine are installed properly and I have no issues with rain noise from the toppers and I have zero water retention and no flapping with them.
