Compartment at hose side.

I'm wondering why they wouldn't make the door the same type as the one on the door side, where it swings all the way up and it's held in place magnetically. Instead, it's on a hydraulic lift, and it doesn't go all the way up, and you have to stoop down as a result, just to connect hose, cable, etc. Makes no sense.....and has anyone modified that compartment, so it does swing all the way open?

Not sure which Cardinal you have, but on my 3850RL its right below the bedroom slide. so it cannot go all the way up.

shows how new it it, and we haven't even used it. The slide out, or should I say the corner of the slide out is right above it, which prevents it from swinging open all the way. Yet another example of poor mfg'ing, and design, and the overall lack of thought process that goes into these things. Still, we buy them.

I personally don't mind the current config. Especially if it is raining the day that I have to dump....It keeps me dryer, as I am fiddling with the dump valves, etc. I get your perspective, I do like the magnetic lock up on the door side. the way I have stuff loaded up, I typically only have to get into that side compartment when arriving, and leaving our campsite. I store all my chairs/tables on that side.
