hot water out of cold

Question when I turn my cold water on hot comes out for about 1 minute and then turns cold. I changed my check valve at the hot water tank and the bypass is turned off. Keep in mine I just bought 33WB-LE Cardinal 5th wheel its a 2008.

Hot water from cold tap

I have a thought: Do you have your water hose feeding your unit laying outside in the sun?
Believe it or not...the sun will heat the water in that hose to very hot...we have experienced this in our 374 motorhome....sounds too simple, but could be the culprit at times...good luck,

George

George,
Thanks but I thought the same thing knowing the campground pipes are not to deep. When I turn the hot water on it is very Hot!! then cold comes out. I shut it off moments later the same thing. I'm sure its hot out of the tank.

Make sure the outside shower valves are not open. If those are left open, and the shower head is closed off, then water can "creep" from 1 line to the other.

Also check your bathroom shower for the same condition.

Is it all facuets or just one? If just one is it the kitchen? If so I would check to see if your cold water line is resting on the hot water tank.

Times Two - Especially with a 50 foot white hose and a very hot day.

Its not the hose outside it happens with the holding tank water too and its all the faucets, turn the cold on its real hot for about 1 min then turns cold I'm afraid I might be drinking some water out of the hot water tank.

There are only two ways for this to happen:

Hot water heater bypass valve open and a shower shutoff button pressed with both faucets open.

Check your bypass valve closed.
Inspect inside and outside shower faucet (hot and cold) and make sure both are OFF.

There should not be any other cross connections.

Sounds to me like there's a mixing valve leaking hot water by at facet. To find out shut water off and drain off pressure, then remove hw line to facet in question and then cap line and plug hw side of facet then turn water on and we if you have same scenario ........
