Looks good but you still have to carry the remote around instead of a key.
Would love to see a keypad add on that would solve that problem.
What we did was to install a Keysafe ( Home Depot/Lowes) on the inside of the LP door ( since that one has no lock by law).
That way if we loose our keys or for whatever reason don'y have the MH keys on us we can open the door and get to a spare set inside. ( I keep a spare set in a combination safe I installed in the bedroom closet. OK, so I'm a little overly paranoid.

My tt came with the keyless entry feature. No key fob, just punch in the code.
I had a problem with it at first, or at least I thought I did. Come to find out I was punching the code in too fast.
I like the idea of not having to carry an extra set of keys around, but I do keep the tt keys in my truck just in case.

They're probably all made in China, so would you really want to have to trust that to get into your camper?

It probably is made in China, I don't know. Just know that I like it and it's working. If it does fail, I can always use my key.

There is a lock that can be programed to your thumb print. You can get this for your house but i don't know if there is one available for campers.
With this type there would be no need to carry a remote entry devise or remember a combination. I am not sure how many but you can program multiple thumb prints in one lock.

To spend $240 bucks for a lock on a camper that has a $50 dollar door is over kill. Think like a thief, how would you get into a camper or anything with out making a lot of noise and with the least resistance.....most likely a window, however a thief will check all the doors first, but you can bet one thing, they will use the door to carry out your stuff.

$240 bucks tells me that the lock is a quality lock, electronic locks are expensive to start with and they all have a key to open them if the electronics fail and if they fail it is because of power interruption. The price you pay for a lock will dictate the quality, but before you spend a lot of money on a lock look at what you are installing it on and what you are trying to protect...."Locks are for honest people only."

As stated above, locks only keep out the honest folks, so I view the keypad primarily as a convenience. I like not having to carry an extra set of keys while camping and the ease to just punching in a few numbers rather than fumbling with the tt keys. I'm sure the keypad I have is not the best out there, but a thief would probably pick the door lock somehow and not even mess with the keypad.

If I were concerned with security, I wouldn't mind spending more money on the lock rather than the door since the lock would be the weak point that a theif would more than likely compromise rather than actually breaking the door itself.

The Salem tt I owned had a rear bedroom with under bed storage. It also had a rear pass through storage. Anyone with a storage door key, which is about everyone, and if they were small enough they could open the pass through, crawl in and lift the bed from underneath and be inside the tt. I often thought about that, but never had a problem.

I have found that a large blinking red LED mounted in a cargo door close to the trailer door works very well. Total cost about 4 bucks and a new battery every year. (Please don't tell anybody).

I'll have to agree with you. If mine hadn't came with the keypad, I probably wouldn't go buy one.
But since it did, I like it!

I saw this keyless lock in this month’s Trailer life mag last week.
I have it on good authority that Santa is bringing me three Combi-Cam locks for the storage doors.

In the spring I’ll be adding the keyless entry system on the 5er.
Why, because he who dies with the most toys wins!
