Question Refrigerator not cooling very well on gas

I have a 1996 Cardinal and during our last trip our refrigerator did not cool very well on gas - it cooled on electric once we parked and plugged in, but after five days on electric it was still not that extremely cold on high (#5).
Any suggestions on what to look for, as I hear gas is supposed to cool even better than electric. It has flame and the tube where the flame went up you could not touch.

i don't have an answer for u. my last trailer, i bought when it was 8 yrs old. it was slow cooling from the beginning but abt 2 yrs later went out.
when i pulled the coil, found a small area of the steel tubing that had rusted thru from the outside. hope that isn't ur problem. the solution to that is buy a rebuilt cooler or replace the whole thing. i opted to replace the frig.
interestingly enough, i never smelled ammonia. it was either slow enough that i didn't notice it or it leaked out quickly between use.
the unit is sealed away from the trailer living area. i still believe it will creep in.

Mike, we had the same problem and the way we fixed it was to make sure the slide on the monitor, which should be attached to fins on the right side inside the refrig. is all the way up, and second we put ice packs in the freezer during start up to get the temperature under 38. Once down, it usually stays down unless it is very hot outside.
