Refrigerator Question

My refrigerator in my 2008 Cardinal is acting up. it will only cool when on gas and not electric. It is a Dometic RM2862. What could be causing this?

i'm not an expert in this but the good news is that you say it cools on propane. that says all the plumbing is ok. when on propane a flame (burner) creates heat to drive the cooling. when on electric there is an electric heating element to create the heat that drives the cooling. so this heating element is not working. could be that it has been burnt out. could be a loose electrical connection so that power is not getting to the heating element. put a multimeter on the terminals of the heating element to see if power is getting to it or not. if so and no heat, replace the element. if no power start tracing wires to find out why no power. could it be something else like the refrigerator control board, possibly. you've got a few years on it.

I will be checking that as soon as I can it sure seems to be colder on gas then electric that heating element might have been slowly going out. Thanks for the tip.
