rv cover height

i had to put a 6 inch lift kit on my 2003 cardinal 5th wheel for my 2008 chev. 3500 4x4 would have bed clearance and ride close to level. now i need 15 ft clearance to hook and unhook from rv. any ideas on covers for rv as most of dealers are installing 12 ft. clearance on covers? thanks.

Any of the dealers should be able to custom make the height you need. You just need to talk to them.

I realize this doesn't answer the OP question, but if there is a front mounted AC unit, raising a camper 6" could cause other problems besides the RV cover problem. Many 5th wheels come off the line with the front AC at 13'6", the standard maximum recognized height.

Actually Chap, I think most 5th wheels come off the line with a height of 12'6". All that I have ever looked at were within an inch or two of that. According to the book, mine is 12'4", but I measured it at 12'6" when hooked up to my truck. At 13'6", there are some local bridges around here I would not be able to go under.

Gotcha. I thought I read here or somewhere that someone's 5th wheel was close to 13'6". Mighta been dreaming that.

when i let the weight back down on truck it probably gets back down to 12 ft 6 inches but while hooking up i need 15 ft clearance for front a/c cover to clear.

Why do you have to raise or lower your camper 2 ft 6 inches to hook or unhook? My Cardinal 37 RK2 only has to move up or down 3 or 4 inches to hook or unhook. It is 12ft 8 inches hooked up.

The jacks on my Cardinal do not have 30 inches (2 and half feet) of travel. How can anyone move their camper that far? I am confused or don't understand OP

i have to use multiple blocks under jacks. i have base 6x6 and 5 2x6 on top usally gets me unhooked and i can get close to level. before i added lift kit on trailer i moved 5th wheel hitch on trailer to allow as much clearance as possible to give me 6 to 8 inches between bed of truck and trailer. when i said 15 ft. i meant to assure clearance between traier a/c cover & roof of rv cover.
