Slide Toppers keeping me awake!

Does anyone have a fix for my slide toppers flapping in the wind and keeping me awake? I have seen the deflapper and it would be great but nothing to secure them to other than the awning fabric. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance?

Beach balls.

Some folks will shove beach balls under their toppers when a storm comes in order to improve drainage. Might help with flapping as well. They are cheap and store easily when deflated.

Slide Topper

I can't claim this one, but I have used this.
Run a rope through pool noodles an put it on top of the slides an tie off on each end. It keeps it from flapping in the wind.

This is interesting though I just can't picture it. Do they just lay on top? More detail please.

Shove the small beach ball between the topper cover and the slide top. Don't forget it's there.

Run a rope thru a foam tube. Throw it over the topper. Let the foam ride on the edge of the topper so as not to cut it. Tie it down to something.

I made some pvc pipe supports which slide under the topper.....stops the wind and makes the water run off better when it rains.

Me too, so I did a search. Seems they go under the awning, but the rope makes it easy to pull out when you are ready to close up your slides. Some people said they just used a pvc pipe with a rope hanging down each side. The rope allowed them to pull the pipe up to the front edge, and then they would tie it off under the slide to hold in place. Also, many warnings to remove it before closing the slide or expect damage.

I wish we had known about/thought of the foam last December, it was so annoying to try to fall and stay asleep with our heads directly under the awning area.

Depends on how much effort one wants to do and if you carry a ladder and are ladder friendly....I came up with de-flapper poles for the regular electric awnings that stay attached like awning poles.....be a simple thing to make for toppers...If this trailer had toppers, I'd have made 'em...

I just added more tension in both ends of the topper. Solved the problem.

Not sure what good they'd do UNDER the awning??

Here are a few photos of the concept using PVC pipe instead of a foam pool noodle. Not my pictures ('net snags) but I also don't see a reason to crank it as tight as the photo shows. It needs to be snug enough to keep from flapping but not pulled nearly as tight as these.

Here is a photo of the beach ball concept too.

RV’s and Accessories in Holley, NY
Purchased an item from the web site above that inflates to keep slide toppers quite and rounded so rain does not puddle.. Works very well, inflatable to any size.. Expensive but should last forever. hope this helps

Just to add to this: Use bright colored pool noodles so you don't forget they are there and use bungee cords so they have a little give.

We tied three pool noodles in a triangle shape with colored knitting yarn and installed under the topper (on top of the slide). Light weight, cheap and with the added water shedding (no ponding) we sleep just fine. Two short bundles for the bedroom and two long bundles for the living room.
