At 25 MPH, I try to set my Prodigy brake controller to just below lock-up of the trailer brakes. I like to set the Boost to F1 or F2 to initiate trailer braking at 14 or 28 per cent of my settings. This is why I'm beginning to wonder if the self adjusting trailer brakes may be working against these settings at times.

I have been pulling gooseneck trailers over 20 years with electric brakes. I have always run the trailer brakes a little on the higher side especially in heavy traffic or on highways so that if I have to get on the brakes hard I want the trailer trying to stop quicker/ drag the TV. If you run your trailer brakes lighter you run the risk of possible jack knife. I have a 11K 5er with all our necessities (cough cough) and pull it with a 2500 with internal brake control set at 6-6.5 depending on road conditions.

I read, Brake Auto adjust sets clearance with every stop, therefor keeping proper clearance?

i have to side with TGR here the brakes will not over tighten them selfs they are like the way the drum brakes were on auto's they all had self adjusters on them but will only adjust them selfs if the limit of travel on the brake shoes warrents an adjustment
