Outside storage hatch under bunks

I have a 2016 Flyte 255rs minus the rear outside hatch under the bunks. Every model I have seen has the hatch instead of mine. Went to dealer and even they were perplexed by mine not having the hatch. Dealer quoted $151.00 for the hatch door parts to install the new one. Here's the catch, the dealer doesn't want to do it because it might cause structural issues. Quoted me $500 for labor to do and possibly frame it to "install it right".

Question, is it worth it for me to try and do it? I am somewhat mechanically inclined. I haven't used the space for storage yet because I can only access it from the inside and lifting the bottom bunk up.

I also learned that Shasta isn't making this model anymore.

Any comments and/or criticisms are welcome. Thanks
