Request owners of the 2016 Forest River Shasta Oasis 25RS to share experience

Hi all:

I am a newbie in the world of camper trailers, trying to buy my first camper trailer to get started. I am in my late 40s, married with wife and two kids - a 20 year old college going daughter (home only occasionally) and a 10 year old son. Mentioned this to give some idea on what we would need in a camper.

For towing the trailer, I bought a 2017 Ram 1500 ecodiesel with a 3.92 Rear Axle Ratio. Specs show a "Max Trailer Weight Rating" of 7540 lbs. for this truck.

In our local market, I spotted a "2016 Forest River Shasta Oasis 25RS" for sale. The owner mentions "excellent condition" at a listed price that sounds reasonable. I have googled the model and watched some youtube videos and so far, wife and myself like the floor plan. We have not gone to physically take a look yet, will probably do that in the coming week.

Being a complete newbie, I would like advice from current or past owners on what they liked and did not like, quality of construction etc. of this particular model to help me further decide.

thanks in advance for all the comments!

First, you need to post what your tow vehicle is and it's specs.

Well I would post the price of the used, there are a lot of folks here to tell you quickly if it is a good deal, I would post the price and list what else is included, and wait for replies. There is no other place on the internet you could get better advice from these good folks here.

We looked at this model and were advised by the sales people that they regarded Shasta as being of lower end, entry level quality. We looked at others, and did find the Shasta fit and finish to be slightly lower than others. That said - Shasta is not "bad", just some others may be better.

I am very happy with the quality of my Shasta. Several standard features were an upgrade from my previous Dutchmen travel trailer, such as the windows and floor.

I expect that there are different rankings of quality/features in travel trailers as there are in cars - the same car model of car is offered from basic to deluxe. My Shasta is head and shoulders above my previous Dutchmen, but I am sure there are very nice Dutchmen versions out there.

Hello. We bought a new Shasta 25rs in January 2017. We towed it to a relatives property and left it there. We are 2 states over and consider it our second home. There are few things which I noticed. !. there are no floor vents in the bedroom which means that het is not there when chilly. 2. the way the galley is set up the air conditioning does not have any effect in the bedroom area so no cold air when/if hot. 3. the stove & microwave are not accessible when slide is in. None of these are a big problem for us since the trailer is parked in the northwest where is is never too cold or too cold. As for the slide being in it's no big thing cause we deploy it as needed when we need to cook. We like this trailer and glad we bought it.
