RV/Marine antenna won't work

Anyone have issues getting the UFO style RV antenna to work?

I've hooked up a small tv to the TV1 jack and depressed the button so that the red light is on (antenna mode).

I've turned the tv to the "air mode" instead of "cable" and have done a channel scan in numerous locations without any luck whatsoever of even getting a faint signal.

Any advice on the hookup would be appreciated

I haven't had much luck either, I got it to find a station or two once but the signal was too weak to actually watch. I had cable hookups for my last two trips so I never tried the antenna at those places...wish I would have though.
