Toy Lock will not retract

Anyone else pull their toy lock out to tie up bikes and then bit will not retract so you can lock it back up, so I now have 15 feet of wire hanging from my toy lock box, I find it useful but I may cut it off the trailer if I can not get it to retract under the nose of my 2012 Shasta Revere 27RLSS

I bought an after market version. Lasted 2-3 years. Wouldn't retract so I took it off and did an autopsy. The flat wound spring rusted and snapped on it. So, I kept the cable and ditched the rest. Still haven't put a new end on it though.

Save some money, a cable at Harbor Freight. It's not as heavy duty as the ones at the big boxes, but more than enough for a ladder and grill for half the price...around here a 20 footer is like $15.
