We are only looking at units that are a minimum of 100 watts which could power our portable electronic devices.
Any mounting on or off an A-frame needs to be adjustable to get a reasonable orientation to the sun. Without that orientation (no worse than about 40 degrees off straight-on), solar panel output drops to nearly nothing.
Mounting directly on an A-frame gives shade issues unless you just happen to get the solar panel an unobstructed south view.
On or off the A-frame, the mount system has to be able to stand up to thunderstorm winds - not trivial - unless you plan on being available to pack up the panels when the wind starts blowing.
These issues, combined with the expense, are why I have not bothered with solar so far. But I would still choose solar over a portable generator (unless air conditioning is essential where I am camping).
just my thoughts
